Whitehall

Whitehall

CAMDEN, ME

The head-to-toe renovation of Whitehall in Camden, Maine presented an opportunity to create a vibe that was both modern and authentically Maine at the same time.

With the local motto of "where the mountains meet the sea" in mind, Reider + Co focused on bringing in the land and seascape with highly textural and natural elements.

Aged metals, weathered woods, and nautical ropes are incorporated into the design of the 36 guest rooms (ranging from bunk beds to suites), common areas (from an indoor lounge to an outdoor fire pit), and restaurant (Pig + Poet). Artwork created by native Mainers will be featured throughout the hotel, including a fresh portrait of Edna Millay de St. Vincent, a Pulitzer-prize winning poet discovered at the hotel in 1912. The result is modern and quintessentially Maine.
